Evolution has launched a new live game show based on Monopoly, diversifying the company’s content portfolio even further.
In contrast to Evolution’s more traditional Monopoly Live product, the “bingo-style” product is titled Monopoly Big Baller and represents a spin on the classic board game.
Big Baller is based on Hasbro’s popular board game, but instead of an urban setting, it takes a riverboat cruise.
Augmented reality and a human host Mr Monopoly, who has ditched his top hat and suit in favor of a captain’s outfit, will lead players through the new game.
Big Baller revolves around a machine that draws balls. Similar to bingo, balls appear, numbers are matched, and lines on cards are completed. “The more lines players make, the more money they win,” Evolution explained.
However, unlike traditional bingo, Big Baller incorporates recognizable Monopoly elements such as dice rolls, ‘Chance’ cards, and ‘Go To Jail’ spaces, among other board game hallmarks.
“Mr Monopoly is back in a big way!” “We have a sizable segment of players who enjoy bingo- and lottery-style bouncing ball games,” said Todd Haushalter, Evolution’s Chief Product Officer.
“For example, our Mega Ball game is extremely popular. Now, Monopoly Big Baller provides another one-of-a-kind live game show that is visually and thematically distinct.”
Branded content is nothing new to Evolution. In addition to Monopoly Live, the company’s Red Tiger studio released a Narcos Mexico-inspired title earlier this year.
When compared to non-branded content, games based on existing IP offer a chance to attract more casual players.
“Monopoly Big Baller packs all of that brand value into a new online live game show that is sure to appeal not only to Monopoly and bingo lovers, but also to a new and much wider audience,” Haushalter said.
