Matt Wilson, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Executive of Gaming at Light & Wonder, has been named interim CEO.
Wilson will continue in his current position, while Barry Cottle, the company’s President and CEO and a member of its board of directors, has stepped down and will support a “seamless transition as a consultant.”
“As we enter the next chapter of our growth journey as the leading cross-platform global game company, we are confident that now is the right time to make this leadership transition,” said Light & Wonder Executive Chair Jamie Odell.

“Our Executive Vice Chair, Toni Korsanos, and I have worked closely with Matt for over ten years, most recently in successfully turning around and repositioning Light & Wonder’s Gaming business for long-term growth.” We are confident that his strategic insights, deep industry knowledge, extensive experience, and impressive track record make him the ideal interim CEO for this transition period.”

The company’s board of directors has now begun the search for a permanent CEO, enlisting the help of a leading national executive search firm. The group stated that the search will include both internal and external candidates and will build on the board’s well-established succession planning process.

“I am honored to serve as interim CEO during this exciting time for our company,” Wilson said.

“With a streamlined organization, sharpened strategic focus, and strengthened balance sheet, we are now better positioned than ever to capitalize on the business’s incredible opportunities.” In this new role, I look forward to working closely with the rest of the leadership team as we continue to accelerate our progress as a sustainable growth company.”
