DraftKings has announced that it will open its newest sportsbook in Kansas on September 1st, just in time for the start of the new NFL season.
As the NFL and college football seasons begin, DraftKings has acted quickly by making its sportsbook available on the first day of sports betting in the newly opened state.
The offering is subject to regulatory approval, but it is likely to pass because DraftKings already operates a sportsbook in 17 other states in the United States.
Following approval by Kansas state legislators earlier this year, Kansas officially signed sports betting into law on 12 May; 1 September was announced as the official launch date of sports betting, with DraftKings, BetMGM, and FanDuel all seeking approval to begin taking consumer bets on the big day.
“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to deliver our products to Kansas sports fans for the 2022 NFL and college football seasons,” said Matt Kalish, DraftKings Co-Founder and President, DraftKings North America, of the launch. It’s an especially exciting time of year, and we’re thrilled that eligible Kansans will be able to join in the fun with DraftKings’ seamless and responsible sports betting experience.”
The announcement comes as DraftKings announced plans to open Louisiana’s largest sportsbook, in partnership with the Golden Nugget Lake Charles hotel and casino, as well as the launch of its Rocket casino game in Pennsylvania, which is now available in every US state where iGaming is legal, as well as Ontario, Canada.
