Alex Gersh has been appointed as Paysafe’s new CFO, effective October 3.
Gersh, who was previously the CFO of Sportradar, has 25 years of experience in the gambling industry, including as the CFO of Paddy Power Betfair (now Flutter Entertainment) and numerous other roles.
“Alex is a highly talented finance executive with a proven track record of driving growth for the international companies he has helped to lead,” Paysafe CEO Bruce Lowthers said of Gersh’s appointment. I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to our team as we continue on our path to accelerate growth and create long-term value for all of our stakeholders.”
Meanwhile, Gersh commented on his new position, saying, “Paysafe has a highly diverse and relevant digital payments offering in the specialized industries it focuses on, including gaming and entertainment.” I’ve had the good fortune to work for some of the biggest brands in these industries, and I’m excited to apply my knowledge and insights to my new role at Paysafe and be a part of this ambitious company’s future growth story.”
Gersh takes over for outgoing Paysafe CFO Izzy Dawood, who is set to leave the company in the coming weeks.
Lowthers praised Dawood in Gersh’s hiring announcement, saying, “I would like to express our sincere thanks to Izzy for his significant contribution to Paysafe during his time with the company and his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities.”
When Sportradar announced its Q2 results earlier this month, it also announced Gersh’s decision to step down as CFO for an unnamed US company, a move that has now been confirmed with Gersh officially joining Paysafe.
